The second-hand marketplace Members Voice Displeasure Regarding Size Changes
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Digital Channels Backlash
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a different size category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to review their products and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Changes
Before the change, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, from Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million users, with 18 million British users.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: last year, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
