The Blue Jays Secure World Series Meeting Against Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer was instrumental for the Houston Astros winning the championship in 2017.

Toronto's Blue Jays earned a spot in their initial championship series since 1993 by defeating the Mariners in the seventh game seven of the American League Championship Series.

Behind by two runs, Springer delivered a three-run home run in the seventh inning, guiding the only Canadian franchise in the majors to a 4-3 series victory in the best-of-seven series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, holders of the reigning title, in the anticipated Fall Classic.

"I'm thrilled for this squad, the city, Canada," Springer stated, a star of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 championship. "It's truly an incredible feeling."

George Springer has now connected for 23 total October home runs, ranking him third in history behind Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).

"It's hard to imagine another person in the world that I'd choose in that moment other than George Springer with his October magic," said Schneider.

Seattle, who had led the series two games to none and three games to two, are still the only MLB franchise that has never reached in a Fall Classic.

Wilson said "certainly that it hurts" following his side's defeat at their home ballpark, but praised their work in the campaign.

"It's a special team. Sadly that we finished on the losing end of this game," he added.

Toronto won the championship on their two prior appearances in the early 90s, and will host the Los Angeles in the opener on the upcoming Friday.
