Ex- Physician Accused of Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients

Prosecutors have stated that a former doctor has been charged with carrying out sexual assaults against thirty-eight victims who were under his care.

The Grave Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – including some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.

One senior prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Investigation

These allegations come after what police called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

Breakdown of Offences

The charging documents outline the forty-five charges he is charged with:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Police are urging individuals with information to get in touch with the investigating team.
